Daily records for low temperatures have already been broken or tied, indicating little relief during the overnight hours. Rockford, Illinois, tied its daily record low of 75 degrees, while Dallas saw its low drop to 81 degrees, tying the previous record set in 2024.

The heat wave is expected to ease over the weekend, with some relief for parts of New England and the interior Northeast by Sunday. However, the mid-Atlantic states may not see significant relief until next Monday or Tuesday, as the heat dome shifts westward, bringing the majority of the above-average heat back to the Plains and West.
